Mobile Standards
The lowly mobile phone is actually a very complex device - there is the
low-level radio interface, the software running on the device, the station
network the phone communicates with, the network interactions (if you are
calling a phone on another network), etc.
Here are several forums that deal with the various aspects of mobile devices.
(I am more familiar with the first three)
Open Mobile
Alliance - the forum that is standardizing the layers above the transport.
Third Generation Partnership
Project - the next generation mobile phone standard group.
Infrared Data Association
- a group standardizing infrared communications.
Bluetooth - the
group that is doing a pico-net wireless connection solution.
GSM Association
- this is the GSM operators association.
Third Generation Partnership
Project 2 - the next generation mobile phone standard group - specializing
in CDMA2000.
